Eat Smart! Workplace Program
The Eat Smart! Workplace Program supports and offers recognition to workplaces that meet exceptional standards in healthy environments through safe food handling, healthier food choices and a smoke-free environment. Eat Smart! is a program supported by the Nutrition Resource Centre of Ontario (NRC), an initiative of the Ontario Public Health Association (OPHA), and is run by local public health units across Ontario.
The Good Food Box (GFB) is a non- profit fresh fruit and vegetable distribution system available in KFL&A area. Individuals or families can order and pick up their large food box ($15.00), small food box ($10.00), fruit bag ($5.00) or vegetable bag ($5.00) the third Thurs. of each month at the host site convenient to them. If you are interested in purchasing a GFB, KFL&A Public Health’s main office is a host site. Call the Dial-a-Dietitian line to find out the host site closest to you.
Motiv8 is an initiative by KFL&A Public Health designed to help individuals, families, and organizations address healthy lifestyles in a variety of settings. Look for more information on eating well and being active at Motiv8. Seasonal features include the web-based Holiday Challenge and Revisit your Resolutions.
This five week series is designed to encourage and empower employees to make healthy lifestyle choices. It is delivered by a team of health professionals including a public health nurse, a public health dietitian, and a public health physical activity specialist. Sessions will include food demonstrations and flexibility and strengthening exercises designed to build skills and breakdown barriers to healthy eating and active living.
Workplace Wellness Program
KFL&A Public Health's Workplace Wellness Program offers a variety of resources to assist your workplace in building a healthy working environment. Depending on the topic these resources may consist of:
- displays,
- health information sheets,
- pamphlets,
- videos,
- posters,
- presentations,
- kits,
- educational sessions, and
- support services (eg. workplace policy development).
